Your resume profile (objective vs summary) is the first section the recruiter will really read and if it doesn’t get them hooked then the rest of your resume doesn’t really make much difference.

There are two standard types of resume profiles:

●Professional objective
●Professional summary

1. Resume Summary

The professional summary is basically a holistic overview of your work experience, skills, and job expertise. If you have a lot of work experience, this is the statement to choose.

A resume summary is a short paragraph at the top of a resume. Experienced job seekers can use it to present their professional highlights and key achievements. The resume summary statement gives hiring managers a snapshot of the candidate’s skills and expertise. It consists of 3–5 hard-hitting sentences. It highlights your work history and key achievements to demonstrate to the recruiter what results you’re able to deliver. As such it’s suitable for more experienced candidates.

2. Resume Objective

The professional objective is based more on general knowledge and skills and focused more on your career goals. This statement works well for career changers and entry-level candidates.
A resume objective, or a professional objective as it’s often referred to, is a brief paragraph that shows the recruiter how your skills turn you into a perfect fit for the position. Most of the time, it’s recommended for candidates writing resumes for entry-level positions, or who want to change careers.
